Arclight Brewing, Watervliet, MI

Arclight Brewing owners Dave Coyle and Ed Nash had a dream to open a microbrewery in Watervliet, Michigan. The partners found a vintage 1950s service station that had the perfect access and ceiling height to accommodate large brewing vessels.

In the fall of 2013 zpd+a was retained as the project architect to assist in converting the 1950s garage space into a gathering space and brewing space. These spaces are divided by a 15 ft.-high glass wall that allows patrons to observe the brewing process. A glass door into the brewing area allows the owners to provide tours. The two existing service doors were replaced with two aluminum and glass overhead doors that flood the space with light. When the weather is good the doors are opened for ventilation and access to the beer garden.

Arclight Brewing opened Sept. 9, 2014 to a crowd of 500 beer-loving townspeople and guests.
