The earliest days of Black History Month begin at Chicago’s historic Wabash YMCA. This cultural epicenter has a vital and rich legacy that speaks volumes to the Black American experience. Founded in 1914, the YMCA was a safe harbor during the Great Migration, it’s wide range of resources provided housing, healthcare, support services, community and sanctuary for many making the journey from the Southern states.
